Rear Calipers?
I have a 1998 Accord Coupe EX 4 cyl with disc brakes all around.
I was just curious if anyone knows why the rear calipers have grooves in the piston? It looks like a X and when you put new pads in you have to rotate the piston clockwise to back it up and then line it up with the little bump on the pad so the pads bump will fit in this groove.
Anyone have any idea how this rear caliper works with these grooves and the little bump?
thanks

yes, they're alignment tabs for the brake pads... you see a protrusion on the back of the pads?
you turn the X part of the caliper piston back in every 90 degrees so it's in sync w/ the brake pad tit...
if it's not aligned, the pad will sit crooked
X part of the caliper piston= internal parking brake adjuster... as the pads thins out, the piston would automatically be pushed out w/ that adjuster.
so did u rotate the rear piston caliper in or did u push it in w/ a c-clamp?
