What is the chance of Insurance paying for a front end conversion ?
My bumper/lights were just torn of my teg yesterday in an accident which was 100% the other guys fault. I read someone say on the boards that his insurance company agreed with the conversion because it was the same price......
Any chance in that will ever happen ?

there are two ways that insurance companies work, you have an option of taking it to one of their authorized shops, where they'll fix it up and pay for the repairs. or you can have them come out and give you an estimate and cut you a check, and you then take it to the shop of your choice. if they cut you a check you can do whatever you like with the money, if you take it to their shop you may not be able to do it since the conversion parts arent available through the dealer to order, but you never know if you talk to the manager and he's cool he may hook you up, good luck
well get a quote and ive them the quote and they might make the check out tp you
if not i know a body guy he jacks up the quoets and if the check is made to him , he will write me a check for that amount to get parts. . . .he knows ill be back for the body work

it seems like it to me~!
Anyways what you can do is get a quote for the regular fix up, get the money from the insurance and just pay the difference for the conversion. There is nothing illegal about that.

Isn't that a form of insurance fraud?

no ****... my insurance is in jersey... talk about being expensive... I hate all these dumb claims people make...
I dont want to rip anyone off, or do anything illegal... I was just wondering what my options were....its a shame that my bumper + headlight are gonna be replaced with new ones, seeing that I eventually wanted to do the conversion....

When my front end got hit, they checked it out a wrote me a check, I then took it to a shop of my choice. Turns out the cost was a little more than the check was. No problem, the shop called the insurance company and they wrote a check that covered the new cost.
dont scam just tell then you havent decided where to fix it yet and to have them send out an appraiser, he/she will come out give a quote on fixing it, you'll probably ge around 3grand and then you purchase the kit and put it on, you most likely will have to chip in some of your money, just make sure you tell the appraiser you want all OEM parts cause theyre more expensive and you'll get more money. good luck
