Clutch help
well this isnt exactly about a prelude clutch but i own a prelude and so i figured it'd be ok if i posted this question here :D Was test driving an 92' mr2 turbo and it ran very well except the clutch was engaging really, really early. The guy insisted that the mr2's were just "weird like that". Generally from my experience though a clutch engaging early like that (im talking like as soon as started to decompress the pedal, maybe like an inch or two, if that) this meant problems. Has anyone ever owned one with a new clutch or is this guy just blowing smoke up my *** to get the thing sold. I'm sure theres a problem with it, but the engine ran like a top, so i'd hate to pass this deal up if i'm just the ******* for not knowing about the clutch on a mid engine car. To describe it a little better it was like this: Push down 8-10 inches: shift into first : Depress like an inch or so: car is jerking forward. If the clutch is going ol' yeller (take it out back and shoot it) I'm not gonna buy it, just gonna build the ol' ludeski for boost instead.
I had that issue with my old beater Probe. The clutch master slave was leaking. I filled it up and it engaged where it should.
Check the clutch fluid first. If not, I would expect the worst and think it needs a new clutch.
Did he say how old the clutch is?
