Default Help, she's hurt bad...

Arright, I just got new headers and a new O2 sensor put in. I brought the headers from here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...844978590&rd=1
Anyway, a garage put them in yesterday. When I went to pick the car up, I was making funny stress noises when I drove it home. I thought it was the new headers getting broken in. Well later that day, I decided to take the car for a ride to test out the new feel. When I put the car in reverse, it makes a grinding and clinking sound. Only in reverse though. Also, when I cut on the car, it kinda jerks and make one loud clinking sound too. I mean its not a sound like something is in the engine, more like a metal clang sound just once. To add onto that, there is a strong burning sound that arrises when I give the car gas. I don't think it smells during ide. I don't know what the hell is wrong. All the sounds seem to be comming from the front of the car, and the stress sounds while I'm driving come from everywhere. I called the guy this morning, and he gave the excuse that the headers are close to the engine and that the exhause is close to the car. I had that exhaust for about a month and I've never heard any sounds like that. He also claims the smell is from the coating on the headers burning. I did see that the headers are changing to a goldish yellow color. What's wrong??? Is it those headers or did that guy #%*& my car up. Please help.

I should also add that it's an automatic transmission, (I know it's gay, but i'm transmission swapping when I save up enough for a B series engine)

not to sure on this, but mebbe it's something w/ your clutch/shifter assembly? my friend's rsx made a clanking noise and stuck in 3rd and 5th after he put his cai in; turns out part of the shift assembly was hitting the intake pipe. i'm not an expert at all, but it's something else for you to check.

about the burning, is that burning smell just from a layer of that fake chrome stuff burning off?

ok its HEADER
you have 1 header. not headers.

anyway. take the header off, and replace it with stock
if the sound goes away you have solved the problem.

most of the time the burning smell is normal, should go away within a few hours though.

Yea, I had somebody shift the automatic gears while I looked at the engine. Basicly, it looks like when you put the car in reverse, the entire engine sort of tilts forward. When this happenes, the 4-2 split of the header comes in contact with the bottom end of the engine. So basicly, all the vibration sounds are the headers vibrating against the engine bay. I also notices upon dropping the car at the garage this morning that my muffler comes out further than it used to. Then I thought that they might have moved my entire exhaust system back and that's why the bottom end of the header is comming in contact with the front lower end of the engine at the 4-2 split. First, is my engine supposed to move like that when you put it in reverse? If so, is there a way to bend the header a little bit to make the angle sharper so the the bottom end of the header does not come so close the the engine? Or should I try to find a thick gasket? Any help is welcome. (I guess doing this because the HP gain is great and I don't want to have to pay another $100.00 just to get the old rusty stocks put on and more money down the line for a new header and new installation. Not to mention the piece of  header that I'm pretty much stuck with right now. "Lesson learned, don't buy cheap")

I just talked to a honda dealer tech person and the engine is supposed to tilt a little bit, so that question is out, I guess the only question that stands is if I can make the headers work of if I just outed myself $360.00 for a stock header installation.

Hears a thought, anyone know if the polyeurothane motor mont inserts fit on the Automatic mounts. this may stop or limit the amount his motor is shifting. Just a thought.

arright, problems over, I just talked to the garage and the bottom end of the header, where the header connects to the cat, is too close to the car to the point where it vibrates against the bottom of the car. So basicly, I'm going to try to get the pipes bent right to correct the header, and if that dosn't work, $360.00 for the firewood. NOTE TO ALL: """ Honda Header Civic Crx Delsol Integ ZC Chrome
BEING SOLD ON EBAY BY hanglo99@aol.com ARE FALSELY ADVERTISED AND ARE NOT BENT RIGHT AND WON'T FIT, OR AT LEAST A 94 CIVIC EX COUPE"""
