kickdown cable - how do i adjust it???
Down at the pressure lever on the front of the trans, loosen off the cable retaining nuts so there is a little slack in the cable.
then start taking the slack out of the cable a little bit at a time;
Rest a long screwdriver on the end of the pressure lever, holding the screwdriver with one hand start opening the throttle with your other hand.
Just at the point the idle RPM barely rises, the pressure lever should just barely move.
Driving test; Going along a level road at 25 mph light throttle, floor the gas pedal.
The trans should downshift to first gear.
repeat the same drive at 28 mph, floor the gas pedal, the trans only downshifts to second gear.

the cable retainging nuts or jam nuts are loosened to the max and there is still no slack in the cable. if i disconnect the cable from the pressure lever it will move even farther toward the ground. the cable doesnt feel tight by any mean but there is still no slack in it.
the movent of the pressure arm is limited by the cable even when adjusted to the max. i dont really know how to explain it. its like the cable isnt long enough or something? when the cable is adjusted to the max, the throttle wont even open up all the way cuz the pressure arm bottoms out and stops moving before the throttle opens completely. i have no idea
