d16a6 swapped civic with dpfi
hey all i have a civic with a si swap. the swap is currently using the dpfi parts. i am attempting get this car to run with the current set-up. i get a code 8 and i cannot get this thing to run right. it runs with a random misfire. i have tried 2 distributors and to no avail. so here is the current setup d16 motor with dpfi distributor and intake with the same computer. it was a dpfi car that now has a d16 longblock. distributor fits with some modification. i just dont know where to go from here.
can i use a d16 distributor and rewire it for the dpfi?
do i swap heads? to the d15 head?
i dont want to put it to mpfi its a customers car and he just uses it for work.

i dont think a a6 can run a dpfi. thats a large downgrade if im not mistaken. that engine is built to run 4 injectors, not 2. Dont quote me on this though, hopefully someone else can chime in and back me up.

The d16 will run on dpfi.
What all was done besides swapping in the motor? Code 8 is for the TDC sensor inside the distributor. So the distributor is bad and needs to be replaced or you messed up some wiring.
You will need to measure the resistance between the org/blue wire and the wht/blue. It should measure between 350-550ohms. If not you need to replace the distributor.
To determine if there is a open in the wiring, measure the resistance between ecu pins C3 and C4. Those should have between 350-550ohms. If not, you need to find the open. You could also wire directly from those ecu pins to the distributor to bypass the wiring harness.

90 sedan.... thanks for the advice. the distrib is good. i have a reman and it worked fine on the old motor. we replaced it because it was smokin so bad. so i thought hey a good long block and i can bolt all of the parts to it and thats it...right?lol.... anyway i tried a different distrib another dpfi one and same result. the way you have to postion the distrib on the head is crazy. it almost looks like a tooth off on the timing. i have checked the belt and everything lines up. the motor came out of a good running crx and we never messed with the belt. just wanted to double check. this thing has me baffled. i place it at 16* tdc and thats where it should be. like i said its a random misfire on cyl 3.... whatcha think...lol
