Default New go fast goodies!!!!!!

Some of you may remember I went down at the track a little over a month ago. Finally got around to picking up my insurance check and some new parts. A couple of them showed up today

It looked like this after the wreck.....

After a little elbow grease it really doesn't look too bad:

Mr. UPS dropped this off today:

And this as well.....

And these too!

Can't wait to get out to the track to do some more damage to the rear tire.

I should be getting another big box tomorrow of some more fun stuff. I'll post more pics tomorrow night if I have time.

How exactly did your insurance cover a track accident

If its a "training" class then many times they do cover.

I most definitely did not "tell them otherwise".

I told them the track I was at and the sanctioning party. I assured them that there were no lap times, no positions at the end, we had class room time in between sessions and there were course instructors riding on the track with us.

They were more than happy to cover it and I was pleasantly surprised. My insurance went up 10% a year for 3 years ($50 a year)...but me spending $150 over the next 3 years to keep my bike and get a check for $3500 was a no brainer.

eh....they just threw those in with the brake lines no extra charge so I figured why not.

Are they no good or just not as good as something else?

They aren't bad but you can glaze them over at the track. Personally I went with HRC soft bite pads then switched to Carbon Lorraine C55 pads for the race track. The Carbon Lorraine pads are the best I've ever used. The HRC's were money as well but the soft bite teaches you bad habits and they're real expensive for a real thin pad. Vesrah SRJL are another set of good ones. SBS Dual carbon are also real good and are cheap. One warning though, you have nothing until you get heat into them... So really it depends on if this is track only or street/track. A Vesrah RJL or Carbon Lorraine SBK5 pad may be better for you if it's a mix. $.02

It will be street/track for the time being. I've only ridden one day since the track and that was to the DMV with needle nose vise grips for a front break and no right peg / rear brake.

That being said once the bike is back together and I can actually "ride" on the streets my mind might change but I have a feeling going really fast at a track is going to make riding the streets (at least on a sport bike) unenjoyable.

At that point I may decide to make it track only - but we'll see.

Thanks for the info / suggestions

did you get new rearsets too? you should.

galfers, ebc's are ok. but vesrah RJL's are the best pad i've ever used. i'm sure the carbon lorraine's are good too. I'm trying out some SBS dual carbons in a couple of weeks.

also, did graphiteaccord ever get in touch with you?

I was warned with the SBS to be ready for NO BRAKES until you get like a lap in. Try going up and down pit out doing brake stops to try and get a little something into them before you hit the track... I had Vesrah RJL's to start out with and frankly thought they sucked... I've heard great things about the SRJL's and the xx's or whatever. They're so [freak]ing expensive though. The Carbon Lorraine's are good enough for Robert Jensen so they're good enough for me...

Yes - the woodcraft rearsets should be here today. Tomorrow will be the double bubble windscreen, crg levers, new grips, bar ends, sliders, tank grips, K&N filter and the Astar GP pro gloves.

What would graphiteaccord be getting in touch with me about? I remember someone sent me an IM a few weeks ago but I don't recall who it was or what they wanted.

Is there like a certain kind of insurance you need to get crashing at a track covered?

Edit:

Nevermind, should have read a little more, lol.

So after you spend all this jack on parts and goodies...How do you plan to get to the bike to the track?

And honestly, when you wreck again, how do you plan to get it back home?

You don't, you just live at the track...they have bathrooms and showers.

I'll either ride it to the track (prior salvage title = street legal), toss it on a trailer or toss it in a buddies truck.

When I wreck again, hmmmm.....is this who I think it is? If so - boohoo. Keep being a jackass.
