Quick question for you honda gurus. My car has started to overheat now when not moving. (doesn't go to the red, but close) I've noticed that when the engine is running it does not turn on, but when I turn the engine off and turn the accesories on the fan turns on if the engine is still hot. Is there a reason why the fan turns on with the engine not running, but not turn on when the engine is running. If it matters, the AC is not blowing cold.

Im not if there is a fan switch but there is a ect (engine coolant temp) sensor, may want to check it

 

thanks, but why does the fan only work with the acc on and engine hot, but not with the car running and hot?

I looked at the schematic and talked to a few other techs.
What was mentioned is some Honda's exhibited a poor contact issue in the back of the ignition switch.
Having any other problems besides the cooling issue?...

I'll see if I can find anything else in that schematic that makes sense related to your problem.
