Car Surges At Idle during cold temps.... help please
Okay so heres the deal....
i have a 96 accord with a JDM H22 swap. The car ran perfect during the summer and fall months with no problems. But now that the temperatures are getting cold out up here in wisconsin, and my car has started to surge at idle. It will surge like 4 or 5 times and then will be fine until you stop again and the surging will repeat itself. Any ideas as to what the problem could be???? help would be much appreciated.

Check that PCV residue hasn't built up around the Throttle Plate and the valve portion of the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve).
This can interfere with the ECM trying to maintain the correct idle.
They often cause idling problems and often require cleaning.
A couple of cans of quality Carb Cleaner, a beer or two and several hours should be sufficient.
You just MAY find a thread covering this procedure in the FAQ threads at the very top of this forum's Page1
