Default oil pan gasket just came off wtf

so i put an oil pan gasket on my freinds car and he came back saying it was leaking.
so I look under the hood and the gasket was sticking out the oil pan.

I dont know how that happened, I tightened all the bolts and even put some extra gasket sealer on it also.

then my freind said the oil pan may be bent, could that be the problem

I dont want to put a new one on knowing it will happen again

did you overtighten it, cuz that could cause the gasket to stick out like that and make the pan bend where the bolts are

That's pretty odd, considering there alre bolts that go through the gasket itself all around the pan.

How tight did you torque the bolts/nuts? Did you use a torque wrench, if not, that's most likely the culprit. Unless the owner hit a dip or something and bent the oil pan.

well, I didnt use a tq wench, and im assuming it was tightened fine as this is not my first time doing an oil pan gasket

maybe it was just a shitty gasket. once I get the car back i will def check out if the pan is bent up, thats what i think.
