Default problems w/ h22 swap....axle related

ok, my wife has a 94 2dr 5sp w/ a h22. the car use to be an auto, now converted to a 5sp, the passenger side axle was bad, so i purchased a new one, only to hyper extend it and break it, twice! i order a set of h22 axles, because they are "longer" anybody else have any ideas, i know the hubs are the same as an auto, the spindles also, because i went thru the trouble of puting a 5sp spindle and hub on there to see if that is the problem, it only breaks once you turn the wheel all the way either direction.... please help wife needs the car back

I too had issues with F series axles on the passenger side, I recently went with 95 Prelude VTEC passenger axle and so far it's held up great.

And haven't had issues with anything breaking haha. The F one literally fell to pieces

Use the H22 axle on the passenger side. You might need to use a washer to compensate for the longer splines. good luck

i hear this over and over. some say don't do it and some say do it. in every write up that i read on the swap, they all say use the axles for your model car. i used my old auto axle and it held up great...until it busted. but it only busted because i called myself repacking it and didn't put it back together to well. so it popped out of my tranny once before when i hit a nice bump in the road. since then i bought a brand new one and haven't had the problem. whatever you do, check out your alignment once its done.

this is the correct way....

If your using the F tranny. use the stock accord axles.

If your using the H tranny. use the stock prelude axles with the prelude half shaft axle.

Don't just slap on any axles that you think will work. It may feel like it is working right now but sooner or later its going to fail and when it fails, you'll be going 70mph.

Yep you dont want to deal with an axle popping out at high speeds...

What?

The H22 half shaft is different than the Accords - it won't work with the Accord axles. One is a male end and the other is female.

The ACTUAL correct way

- All H22 (axles, halfshaft)
- All F22 (axles, halfshaft)

OR mixing and matching which is what I have at the moment,
- F22 driver axle/half shaft, H22 passenger axle

I'm sure the opposite would work as well.

now Im a little confused... Im running my f series tranny with my stock accord axles.... n it works jus fine but if I get an H series tranny it's gonna be all fubar'd? I thought it was kool to run accord axles as long as you ran the accord halfshaft like muffin said...

I dont seriously need lude axles do I?? cause Im tryin to put the H23 tranny in a couple of weeks...

The transmission doesn't matter at all.

The half shaft/intermediate shaft is the only thing that really dictates what driver's side axle you run.

So the passenger I would run an H, I seem to have less issues with it. The driver's I'd run an H just to keep it consistent - when mine dies I'll be swapping it out.

There is always so much toss up in this dept. as far as what to do with axle setups. Like stated before people its really quite simple. Use the axles and halfshaft that came with your car originally and you should have zero problems. I have a H-swapped 92 Accord and have yet to have an axle problem at all.
