Default heat problem

my wifes 01 ep3 started acting goofy.....
im a bseries guy so gimme a break and help a nukka out.
i get in,start it and it idles at 15hundo for warmup like normal.
i get a phone call so i take it before i start driving.the call lasts a little longer than i expect so the car is almost at operating temp.i hang up.and just look over at the tach.as the needle is about to drop too 800rpm(whatever it is) it kinda hickups really quick.like a lumpy idle.up and down maybe 100rpm and back down to reg idle.this "hickup" happend with half a second so i payed it no mind.i turn the radio on.then the heat....no hot air just cold air.i say **** because its cold out and i start driving, then it warms up and blows hot air.i stop at a light and the hot air follows.stupid k's
time for a thermostat??
thanks guys
