01 accord TCS lock-up
I'm not too bright when it comes to cars or their problems. So I'd be greatful for any responses....
In the mornings when i start my car or after a few hours in the cold without being started my TCS is automatically activated as soon as its started. there is no way of manually disabling it at this point. All i can do is sit and allow my car to heat and turn it off and on a few times before it becomes disabled. now my check engine light will be activated with it but once the TCS light is off then check engine goes away too. My car will have no problem reversing but if put in to drive my tires feel locked. and my RPMs dont go past 2000 even if im slamming on the accelerator. Please if you have any clue, help a brotha in NEED. I have to be in my car 15min before my should-be departure time to allow time for the problem to come and go... I miss the days of summer when it was non-existent...

Honda has issued several TSB's (Tech Service Bulletins) regarding this issue
Refer:

Summary:
Anti-lock braking system (abs) or tcs diagnostic trouble code (DTC) 51 and/or 53 troubleshooting. Honda tech line summary
AND
*TSB No.:303 NHTSA No.:10001832 TSB Date:March 16, 2003 Date Added to File:July 22, 2003
Failing Component:
Electrical System
Summary:

You may find this web site helpful.

Your complaint makes sense (the TCS as intergral with the ABS) and can independently apply brakes as needed.
It sounds like the system is going thru a protracted self-check. The issue is:
Why only when cold? and
Why for so long.
A Scan of the ECM may pull up some event DTC's from the register which may offer some guidance. If any are present, they will be in the range of P1670, 71 etc.
Sorry I can't be more helpful right off. let me see what else I can scare up.

I know this is kinda off topic, but I cannot create my own threads yet and just wanted to get some help. I also have problems with the abs and tcs lights. I took my 01 v6 accord to the service center to get the timing belt changed and paid 700. The next day when I started up my car, the abs and tcs lights were on. I went in and checked my manual and called the dealership and they said to bring the car back in and they would look at it. When I went out to start the car, the lights weren't on and I called the dealer, they said to call them back if they came on again. Today the lights came back on but I have to work tonight and cannot take my car in. I was searching the internet and a lot of people were saying this is a costly repair (over 1000). After paying the 700 I'm not sure if I can pay that much this soon. Can someone give me some advice? Are the abs and tcs really that important when not in icy conditions? Am I damaging my car by driving with these lights on?
