Brake pad / rotor question
Just wondering if this has anything to do with my rotors, when driving around normally I hear a "ss.. ss.. ss.. ss." sound of metal on metal sound when driving definatly coming from my brakes or rotors.... braking is not abnormal I don't feel pulsating of anykind or have experienced any difference in stopping power... I'm hoping the rotors are fine now at 43k miles never autocross all daily driving with 1 visit to the drag strip...
Could this just be I need new brake pads? (just ordered 2 fronts and rear hawk hps pads will be here in 2 days)
cause if it is that would be awesome cause I don't know if at my milage re-surfacing is an option.... I searched about rotor warpage and such and from the symptons people give I don't have any of them, just that annoying sound I can hear when driving next to a wall or anything that bounces the sound back to me easier while cruising...
Also no squeaking or squealing either

The brakes should be self adjusting to the pad wear, but its possible that there is to much interferance between the pad and the rotor causing a friction noise.
ok while driving next to a wall or anything (not applying the brakes) I hear a ss..ss..ss..ss..ss..ss its at like .8 second intervals and can blantly be attributed to something stuck between rotor/brake pad type sound (there isen't) and when I brake it gets slightly louder, nothing major....
whats so good about those hawk pads? how much do they cost? where?
fronts are $54 from http://www.tirerack.com.

hmm I'm still thinking maybe your down to your wear indicators .. try looking at your existing pads to see if their pretty worn down and at the wear indicator... well if you ordered the pads already might as well put them in.. I'm happy w/ how my hawks stop my car
damn heres how you know your on HT too much.. when you click on a thread thinking its new cuz you forgot your responded to it.. and when reading the responses you already responded to this thread Lolz...
Or rotors. Any irregularity in the rotor will make a sound, since there are only a few thousandths between pad and rotor. An Irregularity (high/hard spot) might not affect pedal feel adversely, yet still be present and audible.
I used to have this problem w/ aftermarket pads, but I question the installation too, sincew this was back when I went to a certain mechanic for brake work.
