Picking up new/leftover 08 si. Newbie needs advice...
Hey folks, Excited to be picking up a black 08 si new from the dealer this weekend. I was hoping you might offer some advice as to anything I should request get done by the dealer before I drive away? Recalls? Any additional thoughts or advice would really be appreciated also. Thanks very much

Just make sure the tire pressure is balanced.
The transmission fluid will need to be changed to fix third gear in a couple thousand miles, but don't worry about that yet, if it is "new"

Thanks Fijiblue. Will a transmission fluid change solve the problem for good or does it need to be part of the regular maintenance? Again, Thanks. Anyone else have anything, at all, to suggest.
If you are a costco member you can get it for $500 under msrp. (contact costco and they will refer you to a dealer in your area)
Make it a point that you want NO dealer installed options. Otherwise they are going to sell you $25 wheel locks for $150. Pretty much say no to everything even alarms and lojack you can get it for way less and you will be financing less. That is unless they will give them to you at cost or for free.
If you are going to go in and negociate see if you can have them wave the delivery fee.
Most importantly go to your credit union and get pre approved. You can get 5.25% for 72 months and 3.75% for 36 at my bank. The dealer will not come close to those rates.

They should offer free labor for any option installation. Ask their parts department to price match what you can get from online dealer like collegehill. usually they'll go to the web site and offer the same price + taxes. Even though you paying taxes, these options will be covered with the car for 3 years. If you get parts and get it installed later they only cover them for 1 year.
And yeah check your own bank for financing. Dealer will probably give you one with high apr% just because they don't have the time to look for you.

08 Si's shouldn't have the 3rd gear grind, rear upper control arm issue, or wheel bearing issue. All these were corrected for the 08 models.
Honda finance has a 2.9%APR(60 months) & 0.9%APR(36 months) with decent credit. If you have excellent credit and put down at least $5,000 you can the 0.9% financing for the 60 months like I did.
But check all your options first.

I agree...don't get any options, except for maybe foglights because the Si looks much better with them. I suggest getting a 3M clear bra right away, because the paint on the front of the Civics chips very easily.
