Default Overheating and no blower heat

Need some more pointer on my troubleshooting...Its a 92 prelude with a f22b motor.

My coolant temp gauge peaks out sometimes when the car is sitting at idle, going up a bar every few minutes, and other times will hold at halfway. I also cannot get hot air out of my vents.

When the enine is hot, upper rad hose is hot, lower rad hose is warm, valvecover is at 70*C, upper rad hose coolant neck at 100*C, lower rad hose coolant neck 70*C, rad 70*C. Checked with IR thermometer. Where is the thermostat located? Is it attached to the upper or lower rad hose?

Also, my engine fusebox is missing the cooling fan relay, but I have another relay that was wired to the batt that goes to the fan. When the engine is warm, the drivers side fan will kick on, but not the pass side fan. Is the pass fan the 2ndary fan, and only kicks on when it is extremely hot?

What else should I check? At first I thought it might have been a bad ground for the sensor somewhere, but because I have no heat that should indicate either thermostat or heater core blockage right? Where would I check to see if my heater door is opening?

Take your infared light and see if both of the heater hoses going into the
heater core are hot. There is a heater valve on the firewall near the heater
hoses. Switch the control **** from cold to hot and see if the cable on the valve
is moving. The themostat is located where the lower rad hose goes into
the engine.

Sounds like a bubble in the system. Try back feeding water through the upper rad hose. Then fill the system up run the car at idle with the defroster on. After it gets hot open up the bleed screw.

Thanks, will check the heater hoses. Will one be hotter than the other, and how hot do they get?

How do I bleed the system? Do I just loosen the bleed nut on the upper rad neck, run the car, and keep topping up the reservoir until it streams w/o bubbles, then tighten the bleed nut down?

And can someone post what order the hvac controls go in, as most of mine have rubbed off and are just blank buttons...
