Drum to Disc Brake conversion
Hi guys,
Have done lots of upgrades for brakes on my 98 Acura CL, would like to know if there is any way to switich the rear drum brakes on my 08 civic to a Disc Brake setup??? what parts and stuff will I need or from what year model parts will cross fit.
Will an 07 SI set up fit If I buy everything from Knuckle, spindle, Hub, Rotors, calipers, Caliper brackets and Brake lines etc???
Thankx

ya you can pretty much just buy every rear brake component from either the ex or si trim levels
I thought about doing this as well but it's really not necessary for the level of driving I do. I'm just gonna get some front spoon calipers and new pads.

Spoon calipers, what a HUGE waste of cash. With what's available from fastbrakes.com I can get a whole 4 wheel set up with SS lines, rotors, calipers, and a cuple of pad changes to boot and still look HAWT!
For a HUGE imporvement in braking on a street car that does some Auto cross or some occasional HPDE Brembo blanks, hawk pads, ss lines, and some high temp brak fluid is all one needs.
To answer the OP's question you can go to a salvage yard and ****** off any components off an 06+ unit and if I am not mistaken the components from an 01+ civic too.

Its not entirely worth it...the discs clearly provide superior braking power over drums but its a DX in the end...you didn't buy the car for braking around corners. Just stick to your drums, at least they'll last a hell of a lot longer.
I agree to your comments ...the drums do last longer oh BTW mine is an LX /STICK with rear drum brakes....but the disc are so much earier to service and replace pads and **** and not to mention they look hot when you look through nice after market rims.......
Well my car in brand new now but hopefully after a couple of thousand miles will do this swap......that also gives me enough time to watch out for any such setup that might come up on ebay.....
thankx for your input guys.....and oh BTW...i have read some wher that SS brake lines rea not that reliable as they are more suseptable to punctures from smla stone / derbis hits from the road...juts a small word of caution......I was almost close to replacing the old rubber hose with ss line when I did the big rotor/brake conversion on my CL but when I read this I just went with OE hose.... I have a pretty cool DIY is used Prelude and TL parts to hook up a big brake rotor kit whihc was so much more cheaper than all those expensive kits out there....
if any one cares here is the link to that DIY.....if some thing like this can be done on our cars that would be totally worth it...
and BTW it was a dual piston conversion as well...
