I do when I work on most cars. I believe it gives you a little bit better seal
and that's the way I was taught to do it.

Never have and never will unless Im just trying to bandaid a car with a warped block/head that Im getting ready to sell, there is just no need to if you have the block and head properly checked/fixed for straightness....I have however used hylomar on a honda pilot cause mitchell said to use it

where did you use hylomar? In between the head and block?

I use it because I wanted the headgasket to stick to the block (not move around while putting the head back on) and get an "extra" seal for my peace of mind.
Why not use it? If the block and head are both PERFECTLY machined then I can see why, but how many are really? A $4 can lasts for 5-10 head gaskets. Pretty cheap insurance if you ask me.
I never said it was bad to use it, I just said I never do....then again we machine all of our heads at the shop. And I machine all of my personal heads if they are not straight
