Default wiring up an (ipod/mp3 player)

so my buddies stereo got jacked and he's been rolling with no music for a while now, just listening to his MP3 player.

Well I brought up the idea of just splicing an old set of headphones into the wiring harness to the left and right speakers so he woulnt have to wear headphones while driving around (since its illegal)...

BUT: i know that this wont work because the mp3 player will not be "loud enough" and you will have to crank the volume up to be able to barely hear what is coming out of the speakers...

now he does have an amp under his seat that the theives did not manage to grab, I have not looked at it but is there some way (or another) to make this work using the amp?

or is there a converter box or somethign you can buy to make it work, or do you have to have a stereo installed to plug the mp3 player into??

thanks for the info

wire amp to speakers.
wire remote to acc ie power from cig lighter or tap the old radio wire harness or something
get a rca to phono cable. (1 end looks like the ear phone plug other end is rcas)

I never mess with amps... so its foreign to me...

amp is already hooked up to speakers...

thanks for your input

ALL amps have RCA inputs. The remote wire is the "turn-on" wire. Hook this to ignition or to a switch so you can turn the amp on and off.

you might want to make sure the amp has a low pass filter because if the amp does not it is more than likely a sub amp and you can risk blowing your subs.
