My advice to BOTI is this. You guys need to think out side the box and face lft the sport. What was going on in the past is not going to work any more. The way needs to be paved for the future.

all i hear from you is that BOTI needs change... why??

where is NOPI? GONE

Where is NHRA? GONE

Where is BOTI? Still here

Where is CMI? Still here

Where is IFO? Still here

So obviously they are doing something right..

I'll try and explain his position, at least... the way I'm seeing it.

He's saying that he thinks that Battle needs to step up and become a bigger player in the realm of sport compact racing.

I'm not saying I agree with him, but that's the gist I'm getting from his statements. The problem I have with him, is the fact that he's hiding behind a screen name and not allowing anyone to know who he is. If he indeed thinks he's our sports messiah, hiding and being covert AIN'T the way to do it

Im saying. There are more parts to the puzzle than just one aspect which is grass roots.GR is the start. What im stating about BOTI they are going to have to do some renovation to there platorm if they want to see growth which they do. The way that SC drag racing is being presented now is not working. As you can see prior racing series have failed.

i'm pretty sure the other series failed because they tried to be more than they really were... This isn't and won't ever be corporate sponsored or anything...

the small series survived because they stayed small and didn't try to be what they werent...

just my .02 </TD></TR></TABLE>yea staying small keeps you around but what does staying small do for the pros?Absolutely nothing...you have to think that some people do this for a living a they have sponsors to answer to.Everyone doesnt do this for fun like the sportsman racers. Not saying they have to take their focus off of sportsman racers but the series has to help out the pros also because if not they are going to start drifting like some have already.thats why its important to get tv coverage and magazine coverage

There in lies the problem, the hobbyist could care less, and the PROS are running out of areas to race. Racers like Hunt and Gardello are going to have problems.

Great post Tim! It's good to see that someone else sees the pro guys need some love too lol

There are people like myself, Dave, Steve, Kevin, Denske and the others who are running the 'pro' class who are really there because we love it. And I will be there just because of that, but if there was more on the line we could stretch a little more (as would any racer, sportsman or not) and make races that we wouldn't bother to make for small payouts and turnouts. I'd rather get to entertain 20,000 fans and do it for pennies on the dollar than get paid a lot and have 1,000 people around. The payouts would then come in time, but lets get racers in the stands before putting our personal agendas first. Sure it's nice to get that check, but if we really love what we're doing and want it to stay around maybe it's just not in the cards right now.

You guys are forgetting that this is a business for some people. Like BOTI the companys that make parts, the people who decide to go pro.

Ask your self this what defines a sport compact pro drag racer.

A SC pro drag racer doesn't really have a leg to stand on as far as pro status goes besides 6-7 teams really. As far as actually being a 'pro' goes, as far as I know almost everyone who is a pro still has a daily grind lol

To me, unless you're in a team shop, working only on team stuff and then going racing. It's not a total pro operation. But that's a total moot point, debating that crap won't make our sport blow up.

Who are you again?

You are wasting your breath on all of these threads.
I mean is it really necessary to have 4 of them all talking about the same thing?

Trust me, i am just as, if not more than concerned about our future, but what is bickering on HT going to do?

We can all sit here and speculate whats going to or what SHOULD happen. But in reality we have NOTHING to do with it. Until we are asked for our specific opinion then why keep on arguing with each other. Its just making us look worse to people on the outside looking in.

In retrospect, why are we even speculating what should happen anyways? If ANY series doesnt have a plan for 09 by now it will surely fail anyways. I'm sure it is all but decided by now.

I'm sure a few people will have some races or series for us to compete at.
After it is all released most will bitch, some will applaud. Some will race and some will sit out. Some will cry about rules, others will adjust.

In the end its entirely up to us . When the schedules/rules come out stop crying and JUST RACE
