Valve Adjustment
If any of the have had a valve adjustment recent and took your car to the dealer vs. another place such as Firestone Car Care Center etc. How much did it cost you? A rough estimate will suffice.
Thanks.

70 bucks is good, and I would caution you letting a "firestone" do it. That is like taking your car to carwash to have the oil changed.
Valve adjustments are easy, you might want to give it a shot yourself if you are so inclined. Just do it to a completely cold engine to ensure better results. Once you see how easy it is, you'll find yourself doing it every 15K or less.

the first time I wanted to get a valve adjustment (years ago) I asked around a local shop AND the dealer... the local shop wanted $110 and the dealer wanted $90...
local shop...
I figured since I already had a bunch of tools in the garage, had a helms manual.. and the only missing tools I didn't have was a $45 snap on valve adjustment tool and a $5 feeler guage set.. that I might as well spend $50 (instead of $90 at the dealer) and have the tools to keep and try to gain knowledge/experience on how to do it since my 1 time $50 investment on the tools could enable me to do the adjustments over and over again on my car and friends cars.. vs paying the dealer $90 once to do it once every 15K... I also got new gaskets, and some honda bond.. w/ all the tools, gaskets, hondabond, etc.. it still didn't equal the $90..the dealer wanted = )...
it took me about an hour the first time I did the valve adjustment because I was cautious and didn't want to mess up the first time.. but the process wasn't that hard.. I'd definately recommend doing it yourself if you have decent knowlege w/ tools, and fixing things on your car (I know some people DON'T.. so I won't recommend every1 try it themself)...

I need to get one soon too (approaching 60K). Hopefully I'll have some Skunk2 Cams soon...but I'm really curious if it's hard. I don't have a Helms or any headwork experience...and yes, I am intimidated.

It is not too hard. The first time looking at your valve train naked is intimidating. Kind of turns me on
My only suggestion is the tool, which makes it easier and a small torque wrench. My first time took about 2 hours and I snapped a couple of adjustment nuts and valve cover bolts. I got down to about 1 hour after a few times. With the tool it takes me about 15-30 minutes or so.

yeah its really not that hard...its just intimidating the first time cuz your taking your valve cover off... buy a helms manual or print outt he instructiosn from Bseries.net and C-speed racing.. read and study those pages until you feel comfortable to do it.. then go buy the tools and parts and go do it..
