Default H22A in EG - possible to remove tranny alone?

Before I attempt this, I thought I would ask and I already searched with no results - So, my question is - is it possible to remove the tranny off an H22 in a EG Civic, WITHOUT removing the whole motor out? I would like to hear from those who have done it, etc.

I've done it countless times. It sucks, don't get me wrong, but it can be done. It's best to have an extra set of hands. It's pretty difficult to bench press the trans back into place while trying to get the splines to line up.

yes this can be done.

-One make sure you have another person helping!
- put a jack and a block of wood under the oil pan to hold it up. I believe you have to take out the rear mount.
- When you have everything off, lower the jack to lower the motor.
-Take out the tranny bolts. Shake the tranny until it comes off.
-Putting it back in is gonna be a bitch tho.
-After getting the tranny back on, same process to put it back together!

h22 is bulky if i remeber correctly only have had one friend with a Lude swap. been 3-4 years. just took us a little longer then a b-swap. to me a tranny drop is a perfect time to pull the whole motor. if ur experienced, and have a clean swap. it seems smoother its only 10 plugs and a motor mount, and the header.

go rent a cherry picker if u go big

Yeah it sure is bulky - heck I think I am just gonna take the whole motor out since I already own a cherry picker / engine crane. I was just tryin to see if I could avoid disconnecting more stuff, etc... winter project it is.

I talked to a few mechanics and they agree its a pain to just pull the tranny out and get it lined up to go in again.
