Getting new tires for my '06 Si...and brake pads
The time has come after 47K plus to get new shoes for my Si. Not gonna say anything about the stock Michelin MXM4 'cause we all know how much they sucked (to think i made'em last that long considering how i drive)
So after some research i decided to go for the Brigestone Potenza G019 grid (215/45/17). i actualy thought of getting the Potenza RE960AS Pole Position, but the cheddar is low, plus i didnt wanna invest so much without knowing enough about them. Also, since i need new break pads i'm getting Wagner Thermal Quiet pads after reading good reviews. i plan to go ahead and do this tomorrow, so i hope duribg the night someone can tell me something about those products (whether is good or bad) wish me luck....i will post my results in the future.
PS: Keep in mind that winter is coming, i did when i made my choice.

i agree with the michelins. they do suck but they are better than some tires honda could have put on the car. i really dont like the 215/45 r17. i ordered 225/45/ r17 falken ziex. i actually have to go pick them up tomorrow from jhpusa. 380 for all 4 ftw. then add tax and it was 411+ change all together. i know the bridgestone tires get nothing but good reviews. and if ur getting a more top of the line model from them, its just going to be smiles from you.
How much are those tires?

^^^ with your zip code these come out to $150 a tire shipped and walmart will mount all 4 for $40 out the door.

I know, my reply was for the creator of the topic. I would buy the cheapest USED snow tires I could find.

yea so i go the Potenza g019 which after a computer balance and alignment the total came to $610, not bad right. also i didnt go for the wagner thermal pads after been told by a mech to stay with the original type of pads not aftermarket, and since he could get'em and install them for $120 ($220+tax at the dealer) i figure i take his advice.
surely the day (last wed) when i go the tires we got some rain around here and the new shoes felt great. the next 2 days we got more rain so i was perfect to do a little testing, and im happy to say that im 100% satisfied. the new tires produce low noise if any, take turns like butter (the good type of butter) and on rain the were just fine gettin to the 90s. the brakes work good too, havent had to make sudden full stops, but i feel i wont have problems if i need to.
good investments overal.

I put a set of the Potenza G019 on my FA5 a few weeks ago and also am very happy with them. They handle great and with New England winter coming I hope they do ok in the snow. I notice that they are less jarring on bumps than the Michelins were.

I have had the Yokohama "S Drives" for almost 18 months and 20,000 miles. Love them in the wet, confidence inspiring. Not so great in the dry and at autox, tried them at many different pressures, they just were not soft enough to really bite. Treadwear rating is 300, which isn't bad, but I would like to be around the 200 treadwear rating. Any suggestions? Personal experience? What have you tried that has worked?
