Anybody hear drive/race at Road America?
Any thoughts on this track? How is it on brakes? I'll be going there in late August.

Turn 5 and 12 (Canada corner) require the most brake because they are tight and the car can build up a LOT of speed on the straights before that.
Turn 6 is a blind turn so you have to brake (and downshift if necessary) before seeing it.
Safety reminder:
The carousal is kinda high speed and a bit off camber. Back off the gas if you start running out of pavement. If it's not a race, take it easy when entering the kink. Make sure you hold the line and slow down if necessary. If you loose it at the kink, the concrete walls would be waiting for you down the stretch on both sides - no runoffs there (lots of paint signatures on the walls already).
Have fun. It's a nice and very professional track.
You'll love Road America! Long and fast. In a relatively light, low speed car, brakes shouldn't be an issue. In something like a Z06 or Viper, you're brakes will get a workout. Track is easy on tires. Have fun!
I'm actually attending a 2 day school there. I'm just doing it for fun, in my street car, so I will be taking it easy. I've been to a few other schools (Road Atlanta, Mid Ohio, Summit), so they said I could go in their "B Group" or "C Group" if I wanted, but I requested "D", which is the slowest, just so I can take it easy and have fun. I never liked being in a train of cars held up by a slower driver, and I dont want to be one of the culprits. I have the option to move up to the slightly faster "C Group" if I want.
Should be fun, I've always wanted to run this track, so I decided to just do it

RoadAmerica is one of my favoritest tracks! It's like a drive in the country, only really fast. Bring extra pads!
Do you lift for the kink??

Turn 6: get your braking done before your car lifts on the top of the hill to be safe.
Carousel: stay on the inside through this, there is more grip on the inside than the outside since it is crowned. -- Unless its raining! If it is then go on the outside, you'll pass everyone there!
can you give us info on the school?
