Default D16Y8 ECU

I'm pretty sure i have a P2P in my 1997 Ex 1.6 sohc vtech i was wondering if i could put a different computer in my car and still be able to pass emissions and all that good stuff and still drive as a daily driver. I'm just looking for something a little faster but my car still be in perfect running condition...

Sorry for the long post!!!

nope only ecu you can put in there is obdI ecu, won't pass emissions with that one.

You can put in obdIIa ecu in your car but you won't gain anything because your ecu was made for your engine and putting one out of a different (b series) car will just make it run shittier.

I already have a obd2 ecu in my car its a 97 its obd2 so putting a obd1 would mess it up...that makes no sense

Oh yes it does. OBD1 ECUs are easy to chip and tune, you just need a jumper harness to physically plug them in. They will not however pass emissions in several states.
