Just bought a 97 4 door LS for cheap
I've worked on cars quite a bit, namely Subarus. Used to have a few hondas, but never did anything major to them. I just picked up a 97 4 door integra, green, tan leather, damage to the passenger side front suspension. Gonna need a new fender, all new suspension (control arm, strut fork, etc), wheel, etc. Also, both airbags deployed, so I'm gonna hafta get new airbags and reset some stuff too. I picked it up for $600.
Any thoughts? Good deal, bad deal? Any pointers, suggestions, tips? I'll be able to do all the work myself, and the rest of the car is in great condition. Car has 100,000 miles on it, and I'm the third owner. The first two where middle aged so the car should still have quite a bit of life in it. They gave me a file about 2 inches thick with all the service records too.
My idea for the car is a general daily driver as the subaru is getting to the point where it can't be driven too well on the street. Should be a pretty good little project.
and btw, hello!

I think its a good deal. I mean u seem to know what you're doing. 100,000 miles is low. If u got the money then go for it. Good luck to you and your new used car. I got mines for 2500 with no paint at all (primer) and everything was starting to go out. A lot of minor problems equals MONEY gone. Replaced everything under the hood literally. (Spun bearing). Radiator blew on me. Axel went bad. Shocks blown. No radio. Speaker wires were set up wrong. And a whole of minor problems. And plus I bought it from a friend. I think u got a better deal.
hehe, the car is already mine so the deal is done haha!
As far as knowing what I'm doing, I think it's more of a case of being confident in my ability with cars, I have a way of jumping into things I have no clue about and somehow always coming out ok. Hopefully I don't jinx myself though.
This one has a great engine. It just had a 90k maintenance done at Acura, and they said the engine looks more like it only has about 50k miles instead of 100k, but yeah, should be fun.

As long as there is no leaks or major ticking/knocking then your ok. and the ride comfort as well like check the shocks and do a jounce test. Like a safety inspection.haha. I wish I would've chosen ride comfort over any upgrade. But then my dumbass decided to do upgrades.
still saving up for suspension.

I'll get some pics this weekend, already found someone near by with pretty much all the suspension stuff I need, found the new airbags from a friend from his project hatch, just gotta find a green painted fender and the car is back on the road...
Car is in fantastic condition! Some nicks and scrathes on the exterior. Everything else is great. Checked the engine bay, engine runs, no knocking or smoke, a little oil coming from either the cam shaft seal or the valve cover gasket. Everything else is great, engine oil is right at full. Interior is great, minor wear, no scratches to the leather. The sunroof works great as does the CD player. I did notice the driver side door doesn't lock when using the power door lock so I'll have to open that up.
Started some work on it today.
Got everything disassembled, front lower arm was bent to hell, busted both bolts connecting the two pieces. Strut assembly is fine, no damage. Brake caliper is leaking, but it looks like it's just coming from the gasket on one of the lines. Brake disc is cracked in two places. Fender liner is tore up. Fender is belt every which way. Endlink is bent up. Also both airbags blew. LS Mesh wheel is about 80% there...haha, Other than that everything is fine. (=
So in essence, new lower control arm with both bolts, new brake disc, new end link, reassemble the brake caliper with all new gaskets as attempt, new fender, both new airbags and find procedure for resetting airbags so they don't pop out again as soon as I fire the car up again.
So here's the kicker...I picked up an entire front passenger suspension setup, crossmember to rim, for 200 bux! It has pretty much everything I need for under there. Control arms, endlink, brake caliper, brake disc, everything under there! Gonna reassemble everything tomorrow and basically the car will be able to move. Also picked up 2 LS mesh wheels for 100 bux!
Also, a friend of mine just removed the airbags from his project so he gave me the passenger side airbag. Found a guy with driver side for 85 bux w/ cover. Found some JDM fenders on a website for about 225 shipped with sidemarkers. Also found the SiR-G front bumper, looks nice and is pretty cheap so I might pick that up too.
All in all, this is turning out to be a pretty sweet *** deal!!!
