i put a h22 in my eg and everthing is perfect with the swap shifts really nice into 1st to 4th and reverse but wont go into 5th. tranny has honda mtf in it and is filled to the file hole. it feels like it goes in but when you let the clutch out nothing happens and it grinds. just wondering if my 5th gear is blown or if something could be adjusted to help this. i guess i could also try moving the shifter and shift plate around a little to maybe make it line up better but all the other gears feel smooth. just getting frustrated but if i cant figure it out in the next couple of weeks ill just buy a new tranny. any input would be helpful.
Before you buy another trans, I would open it up and check the 5th gear shift fork. http://www.spoonhonda.com. Dl the service manual if you don't already have it.

i guess theres no way it could be alignment of tranny or shift plate and shifter cables ive never taken apart a tranny before some of my friends have but they take forever to get things done just trying to think of stuff i could try that would be simple to fix it money really isnt the issue though i would rather buy a new tranny and put it in myself because i know i can and its simple but trying to avoid that first though. thanks though
If you plan on buying a new one anyway, you have nothing to loose by checking the clearance of the shift fork in this one. Are the cables on ok?
Go through the helms and see if it's something you're up to. Manual transmissions aren't that complicated to work on.
