Default best aerodynamics on rear wheels

Speaking strictly about skinnies. Drag wheels with slicks on them for the rear wheels.

is it better to have the wheels spaced out to be more flush with the body, or is it better to have the rear wheels tucked in?

I would assume it's better to have them spaced out and more flush with the body, but my brother disagrees. Anyone know of any articles online about this, or any fluid dynamics majors in here?

i think that the hardcore drag racers have them tucked into the rear fenders (i.e; gary gardella with the Ecko Function civic). take a look at his car and you'll notice the rear wheels are tucked into the fenders. i have no clue as to how much this costs though!

well, just being that the wheels are so skinny... The wheel is only 4.5" wide..

so either you just put them on the way they are, and they will be tucked in, or you use wheel spacers to sspace them out.

but then again, the NHRA rules state that you can't change the width of the wheel track... I'm not sure how wheel spacers apply to that.

if you use the either the nuformz reare suspension or the RPM rear you wheels will be tucked in. That is the way to go. What needs to be done is wheels tucked rear and then your wheelie bars extended out to run as far wide as the wheels used to be.

have them tucked in and make a plate to cover the wheel well up. kinda like the new insights. How do you think they save so much gas(other than the motor), the drag on that car is pretty amazing
