Default ITR car cover

most likely going to have to keep the ITR outside this winter unfortunately.

Ill have a blue tarp setup above the ITR or one of those stand up dome shelters over it, so it wont be fully outside but still covered.

BUT in addition I want an actual cover that goes over the car.
What do you guys recommend to keep her all safe from the environment ?

California covers. Google that. I have one for my car and it is great. Mine stayed in a garage when it was on it though. Now I rarely put the cover on the car.

I got the Coverking "Stormproof", and have been very impressed with it, they even have an R-specific version:

http://www.autoanything.com/ca....aspx

It's been through two of the rainiest winters ever, located on a hill with lots of wind. It only came off twice because of wind, and it was really windy then. Definitely get the cable/lock with it. I would recommend giving your R a good wax before this kind of long-term storage, it seems to help the finish. Also, for long-term storage if it's raining a lot, be sure to uncover and go for a drive to air things out ever so often, as the interior can get kind of musty. This cover breathes pretty well while still being waterproof, but you still have to air it out. It's also really easy to "roll" on and off in about 30 seconds. I sort of hooked it over the back bumper and unrolled along the car to cover, and then did the reverse to uncover - really fast. Glad I have a garage now, but the outdoor thing was alright.

Is it true the OEM R cover had Type R stitched on it? If so I'd opt for the aftermarket.

I have a COVERCRAFT Evolution cover for my ITR. My car has been parked outside since Feb 07 and the cover has held up very well. I bought the cable lock as well but I don't use it much because during a few days of big wind, the cover blew off and the lock scratched my quarter panel. It seems the cable is to long and it doesn't cinch the cover at all.

i personally have the 'stormweave' fabric. it is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. no problems whatsoever with scratching the paint. you can rewash the cover.

just be specific in the online selection to specify the 'type-r' option. this will ensure that the cover is fit for the itr wing.

good luck!

for what it is worth...the california car cover has a little 'pocket' through which you can run your anti-theft cable on both ends (probably not very effective but that's another story ) to protect the under panel from being scratched.

I don't have any specific car cover in mind other than the OEM one. But, here is my 2 cents:
Unless you are vacuum seal the car and suck out all the air, your caR is subject to moiseture building up inside the car and under the cover(s). So, with that said, let the dry air ventilate through out the caR as often as possibe to get rid of the moiseture.

i have the s2k antenna. i have the california car cover for itr application and the fabric for the larger wing gives room for the antenna. you don't need to worry as long as you make sure you specify the cover for ITR.

hope that helps.

:EDIT:

it will work if you have it installed at an 'angle'. meaning when you turn the antenna to a certain degree, the antenna will point toward the back of the car. if you have it pointed UP, it might not work too well.

My cover has those pockets as well. The wind just blew the cover so hard the cable lock wound up on the top of the rear quarter panel and lightly scratched the paint.

sorry to hear. that's great you have the pockets...the wind must have been really bad.
