CAMS question
i have an 02 base rsx and i want to get new cams.... im looking at greddy or skunk2... has anyone done this... and what else am i going to have to change???
this will also put my red line at about 8.5 right??

It won't change your redline unless you have Kpro to get it tuned and allow a higher redline. And if you only have cams I don't think you'll even make power up to 8500 RPMs. And you might want to upgrade your valve springs and valves to something more durable that will allow you to rev that high without putting too much stress on the valve train and potentially causing failure.
What other mods do you have done to your RSX? A little more info would make a world of difference.

Oh my.
I suggest that you do some major research, because cams are not exactly 'bolt-on' and you clearly are not sure what you're getting yourself into, or even what they will do or what else you need with them.

what?
i will assist you from any further bashing . the cams will make power but no they are not quite bolt on . You should already have the basics such as intake headers and exhaust before you considr buying cams and when you buy cams you are going to have to go to a shop to get the car tuned. but the final anwser is yes they will make nice power.

yes, i have tein edfc suspension, intake, dc headers and hks exhaust.... dont like the exhaust, its too loud... i like the sp2 or the world sport... and yes, i know cams aren't exactly bolt on. thats why i asked what else will have to accompany it. i figured asking you guys would be better than searching google or something else, considering you guys have more experience and seem to know what you're talking about when it comes to honda.
my ultimate goal is to fully convert my car to type-r, yes i know it will take a lot of time and im more than willing... and please dont try to phase me by "bashing"... i dont really care. =]
anything anyone can help with would be greatly appreciated!!
*and can you tell me exactly what is the main difference between type-s and base...
i can tune and get a kpro to raise my red line from this shitty 6.7... but would it be better to get that first vs. new cams??
thanks guys!

if you want to convert your car to be a type-r, I would of started by saving my money up and get a Type-S engine and then work on that engine... Anyways I would suggest you to read up a little on old post around here...
Btw difference between a Type-S and a base is a 40hp difference and a little more torque, a higher red line I believe 8200 rpm, 6 speed... just to name a few.
Also the difference between an Si and Rsx (base model) is 5 hp... the Si has 160 and the base has 155... but that can be just a marketing thing... the big difference is the tranny... the Si 1-2-3 gears a little shorter then the base Rsx...

hey thanks. im already saving for a type-r engine.. if i were going to get the type-s. i'd prolly just sell mine and get a type-s.. but i like the idea of me building up everything on my car. and the base comes stock with 160... shitty... i like the shorter gear ratios... i dont have a need for a 6th gear.
doesn't Si have 6 gears? why would 1 2 and 3 be shorter than mine? sorry, just got a little confused.

and if you are wanting to upgrade your cams you will need to get valvetrain kit!!
you must be another young baller on HT, i have been saving for close to 7 months for Toda stage 2 cams, Blueprint valvetrain kit and Kpro plus all the tuning that will be necessary once all this is dropped in place.

y would you be investing into cams if youre planning on type r. i know youre probably inpatient for da speed but building dc5 rite with the itr in it will put more loot in your poket. i suggest u wait til u get the itr motor to start your build.
