Default Opinions on USDM front and rear bumpers.

Well some time in the near future my 98 will be going to the shop for all my body repair and a full respray. I've been contemplating having the antenna hole shaved because the previous owner removed it. But at the same time I was thinking about having the license plate holes and the embossed integra from the front and rear bumpers shaved as well. I think it would give the whole car a much smoother look all around.

Any thoughts.

Would look smoother, but it would also look like you bought aftermarket bumpers?

I would shave the antenna hole, license holes, and emblem holes. I would leave the INTEGRA.

im a fan of the OEM look, but if you were to get rid of things, bumper holes and maybe the antenna,
keep the integra,

I would keep it all, for resale purposes. If I were to shave anything then it would be the antenna hole, the rear windshield squiter and the license plate holes. Keep the emblems though.

Believe it or not, the "Integra" on the bumpers is what originally sold me on the car when I was 14.

Wow thats cool. As for me I'm all for the OEM look but when your R is PY and your a detail freak like I am, the impression of INTEGRA in the rear bumper is a pain to keep clean due to the exhaust deposits. I thought seriously about smoothing them out on a repaint.

Leave it all unless you want a show car.

So how does that make it a show car?

I did some photoshop work, and I think everything but the badges will be gone. I know resale may a concern, but I don't ever see this being sold. Besides, I think it would be a great way to be a little unique...I guess

I hesitate to make any comments like this cause their are those that act like it's an unforgivable sin to alter absolutely anything on an R. But it usually comes from an individual that doesn't own an R.
Anyway I've seen a DC2 with the fr & rr emblems shaved and it's a bit strange to me. I'll leave them on my car.
In the past I've really had to work hard with a cloth and cleaner wax to get all the exaust soot out of the impression. It's something I despise having to do.

I bet you any amount of money that should you proceed with the alternations from the original OEM look you will absolutely end up wanting to return it to stock.

Save yourself the wasted time and money. Refinish it OEM.

To each his own though.

I have plenty of time to decide that cause I have to build a motor first. Like I said the only thing I'd alter would be the bumper impressions. Other than that, OEM.

I wouldn't shave anything. I would just leave everything the way it is.

I shaved all of my emblems, antenna hole, trunk hole, got 4 door door handles with no key holes, but kept the license plate holes (got mugen bolts ) and left the embossed for the rear bumper, front is a JDM so no embossed.

It gives the car a really clean look, I like it
