ENGINE SHAKING AFTER I RAN OVER A PUDDLE HELP
well, i unfortunately drove through a puddle tonight, which came out of nowhere due to poor visibility in the downpour. anyways, my car continued to run, but my check engine light came on and the car/engine was shaking and vibrating pretty badly when i stopped at lights. engine power was reduced dramatically at lower gears, but after hitting about 25mph, it didnt seem as bad in terms of engine shaking. i was able to drive home, which was about 3 miles.

Doesn't look too good man. Time for a trip to the dealer.
Don't expect good news.
If you need an engine....try and see if your insurance will cover it since it's a weather-related issue and poor visibility. Not sure what the policy is for that though.

Damn, you guys must have been hammered with rain. We only got two 3 minute periods of drizzle just now.

if the op wants any chance of insurance covering the engine, he better put the stock intake back on. hydrolock is impossible with a stock intake unless you drive into a lake.

Then he's screwed with a golden dick. Cause if hydrolock is impossible with a stock intake through a puddle....then insurance will put two and two together and realize that he originally had an aftermarket on.
OP....better say that you accidentally drove through a deep puddle not realizing how deep it was because of poor visibility/lighting.

doesn't sound like a hydro-lock...but, close to it....

LOL Fiji,
I ROFL when I read that she kept trying to start her car
I have nothing against women or think that they are stupid. But when it comes to car they seem to make the wrong decisions and Im always left shaking my head. Like my friend who went almost 10k w/o an oil change and all she had to say was oh, do I need that

i have a 06 lx si swap and this happened to me about a month back, what i did was shut off engine right away. secondly i checked the mil and erased codes i had like 6 codes knock sensor, fuel, o2 sensors etc...... after i erased codes i took out the spark plugs to look at them, by that time it was dry, changed oil with had bubbles on oil cap already which mean the engine did suck up water... after that i was back to normal good luck
all you need to erase codes is a scanner.... If not borrow one from someone... Even autozone checks and erases codes now a days

there's a difference between the check engine codes that can be erased by disconnecting the battery and the codes that are written to the ecu that can only be erased by honda, such as when you over-rev the engine. i'm pretty sure the codes that are non-erasable don't make the check engine light turn on.
