3 tickets and 1 accident and like 1 year driving experience..
all for 110 a month for westcoast insurance part of AIG...for my girlfriend no insurance will cover me anymore for under 350 a month lol

Although I don't have a Del Sol yet, I can still answer this question. A LOT of the cost matters on where you live. When I lived in Florida, I paid $220 a month on my Ford Focus. Then when I moved to N. Carolina, I now pay under $40 a month! I'm 20 by the way, so it's also not even age. It's where you live.
The year of the car matters but not as much as what type of car it is and where its parked at night/where you live. They might consider that a sports car so they will charge more for that. You are also only 18, guys under 25 get charged more than anyone else. At least its that way in Cali. There are lots of ways that you can get the rate lowered, just say you drive under 12,000 or so miles (drive less = less chance of an accident) or tell them you are a good student (I get a 5% or so good student discount) or raise your accident deductible from 500 to 1000. Its going to be kinda high because you are under 25 but like a said there are things you can do to lower it. Look for a state run young driver program, they have one here in Cali, that's where I get my insurance. 118 a month for full cover on my 98 ex coupe. That was the cheapest I was able to find. Hope that helps.
i'm paying 100 a month for my lancer and i called the insurance for a quote and they gave me 200
however my friend has a 93 del sol and his insuranc is $80
i think its going to be more in California cause there is more traffic so it would make sense that the probablility of colission is higher.
but yeah ill see waht bs i can say to get it to go lower :D

A sol is a great car- many insurance companies only use "Civic" to set their rates, don't have a Del Sol option, so you are insuring a sports car at a compact car rate. For an 18 yr old - nice way to go. In Wichitaw you shouldn't be paying that much even at your age- don't tell the insurance guy about your school address. Definitely play with the settings with an online insurance quote system ie progressive or AIG online, etc- you'll see what raises and lowers the rate. Shop around, maybe get on your folks' policy.
Some stupid old guy advice- Got tickets? DON"T ! At your age rates go through the sky. Also don't drive like a chucklehead cops notice this car really easy. . But so do the girls- fresh paint, MAYBE nice skirts AT MOST (I'm so not a rice burner fan) and Sols look HOT.
PS let your GF drive it and she is guarenteed to love you forever !

im a car insurance agent and it depends on driving history, if you have any prior insurance, and most important make sure you add additional equipment. or your swap and mods will not be covered!
haha wow
so you guys are getting your poliies under the name of Cvic?
yeah i have no speeding tickets or a bad history i'm very clean. I'm under my parents insurance right now for my oz lancer wich im trying to sell, and that gets me around $100 a month cause its a 4 door sedan. But i heard that two door cars are also a bit expensive with in term of insurance. But yeah how doi get them to classifiy it as a civic?

I bought my insurance online, progressive, with a TERRIBLE driving record, and it was about 120 a month. And I hadn't had insurance in my name in a long long time. Granted I'm an old guy living in a low accident neighborhood, but still could be worse. If I had my own health insurance it would be under 100. When I went to progessive's site and it asked Make & Model, I put in Honda civic, there was no Del Sol option - thus I was totally honest. granted I am only PL/PD - no theft, collision, or comprehensive coverage, all the options set to absolute cheapest settings. If you really want help with your first online insurance experience, PM me we'll set up a time I'll walk you through it on the phone. Always glad to help.
