is there any hope in saving my engine?
long story short:
i changed my headers on my b16 to stock headers. i had a 5-6 inch gap from the stock headers to my pipe. i drove to the muffler shop very carefully. on this one stretch i actually drove it a little faster until vtec hit so i immediately let go of the gas.. suddently my car started to smoke like crazy! now i cant drive my car because it smokes too bad. the car still turns on and drives "normal" apart from the smoke... so is it cheaper to buy a new engine or to get this engine fixed?
also can anyone tell me what i could've damaged? thanks..

i had a gap. the reason was that the previous headers were longer than the stock headers so there was a gap between the stock headers and the old setup.
well slower. i was driving like 20-25mph the whole way until i hit vtec
.
i noticed everytime i would let go of the gas it sounded like it would suck air.

its prolly just where is was open header. on non-turbo cars backpressure is how you make power. since you didnt have a cat or a muffler you lost all that backpressure. did you get the exhaust put on and everything squared away?
your fine. usually when you run open header the engine notices the back pressure difference and it will tend to run ruch. thats probably just unburnt fuel getting spit out.
yeah everything is on hw its supposed to be but now when i drive my car it smokes to the point where i cant see through my rear window
i was thinking that. so i reset the ecu and let it idle for a bit..the next day it smoked way less than the first time but it still throws out a very noticable amount of smoke.. so should it go away the more i drive it? someone told me that i could've messed up my valves or something inside my head.. btw as you can tell i'm not too familiar with engine problems. hence the reason why i'm asking for help.
so thanks in advance...
so thanks in advance...
check your oil and make sure its not milky colored...if it is then you have a blown head gasket. if not...then i would drive it and see if it works itself out.
thats about all i can tell you. lol if its smoking really really bad white smoke...check your head gasket first. thats prolly what it is if its not something stupid.
well the oil is not milky... is it possible to have too much oil? i cecked my dip stick and the oil level was way above the two holes
wow the oil level is extremely high... well it had been time for an oil change anyway.. i'm gonna do that and see what happens
well... i changed my oil and i drove for a bit but it still smokes... i let it idle for a while and it smokes while idling.. sometimes the smoke stops when idling but when i drive it comes back... i noticed on the muffler tip, there's alot of burned oil, really black... idk what wrong
