Default Bye Bye STi..........

...I just sold my so called Daily Driver yesterday so no more Sti for me...

I did enjoy it for about 3 months and I might get another one in the future but I'm 100% Honda Boy and that is what I'm sticking to right now.
I'm actually thinking about getting another Integra but nothing fancy as I would park it in my driveway and we all know how bad car theft is in Chicago......

Here are some pics of the car and few of my R... just to make it R related

The Sti I drove had a straight pipe so it was pretty loud and not so good for daily driving (cops magnet!!!)... it also had tuned suspension which was to stiff for Chicago's pot holes........ honestly I would not recommend it as a daily driver unless it would be completely stock.

I hope the resale didn't hurt you too bad. The value has dropped dramatically on STIs lately(gas etc). Love Chicago, hopefully I'l be heading back the week after Christmas.

Wow, that was quick!

How are my old red fronts treating ya?

I did the same thing as you and bought an 06 STI, but had to sell my beloved Type R. I miss my Typie like crazy, but the STI definitely has it's moments. I will definitely agree that it doesn't make the best DD. The suspension, even in stock form is simply obnoxiously stiff, and the thing rattles so much you'd think it was put together by Ewoks.

Still though, get the STI in boost, crank the wheel hard to one side, and hold on to your ****. The car still surprises the crap out of me. It's also fighter jet quick on mountain roads with big camber and elevation changes.

Overall, and tell me if you agree, but the STI is leaps and bounds faster than the Type R (for obvious reasons), but it lacks the character.

I miss my Type R I want another one, but not yet ... me and the scooby have a date with a set of blizzacs and 5 months of snow. Can't wait.

Just for the sake of sharing, my two bitches

enjoy bro!

I wonder if ITR owners wouldn't be better served and more satisfied with the upcoming 6-6 TSX, or older drivers, perhaps, with the 305 HP TL SH-AWD.

I doubt it. Those new Acura products are too sterile and over tech'd to come anywhere near an ITR driving experience. I'm suprised there are people that say the 1st gen STI "lacks character", because IMHO the car has tons of character. Especially when compared to the new STI which is basically garbage.

Yeah, in my case STI pretty much became another Garage Queen (or to be exact Driveway Queen ) and I still daily drove my old beat up Accord.... and in my case it doesn't make sense to have two toy cars.... at least not yet

I actually love the sound of Boxer engine but it is a little too much to take when you daily drive one

Sorry about the lack of new pics haha, I'm just too busy lately but I promise that I will post some new ones shortly (maybe even tomorrow after I install my new rear seats )

The 305 HP TL sounds very tempting and I will definitely consider it....

The 1st gen STI's definitely have a lot of character but I guess you have to own one to appreciate it. I have a friend who is a die-hard EVO guy and even he falled in love with my STI after he drove it (true story).

You make it sound like it's Subaru's fault for making it hard to DD. I have mine at COBB Stg II, passes inspection, puts out about 290WHP and gets 30+ mpg and is quiet enough that my Father (age74) loves driving it.
If you had responsible modifications it would still be a great DD.
H-Pimp drove mine a while back, So have many others, And each person said it was Very nice.

Seats are still treating me pretty good and I actually got them their rear Canadian brothers so they could match perfectly now (I will post pics shortly)

....well I actually do think that STI has character but definitely not as much as Type R
