I have been experiencing a noise during higher rpms. sounds like small nuclear bombs going off in my engine bay. funny as it sounds, its got me concerned. im sure its running lean because its single digits here. was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. if i dont go WOT then it doesnt happen either. any help would be awesome!

well not really. almost sounds like a backfire. its a boosted d16y8. it hesitates and boost normally is built around 2800rpms and its lagging and im getting full boost close to 4500 and then around 5500 it starts to pop and almost falls on its face.

 

Sounds like your timing is off, spark plugs are dead, distributor took a crap and isn't giving the ignition you need. I'd look into either timing or ignition.
