Default 92 Teg

Hows it goin? I got a 92 GS need a new clutch. Anyone have any recomendations on brands and types of clutch used!? Im debating on a few, not sure what I'm going to go with. I'm most likely going to get a stage one clutch. Thank you !

unless your going for a car that has high rev shifts or boosted. Then go to stock spec parts. Works out cheaper and keeps it easy for town driving.

you know i dont understand that. How everyone is saying to just got stock and a preformence clutch will destroy or breack a stock tranny. From my experience this is not true. I could understand if people mean if you got a car with 220 plus whp where the clutch grabs too hard, ok. But on a stock car where the tranny should be able to hold at least 180 whp, wouldnt you think that a stage one clutch would give give you better crisp shifts. I had a 89 celica gts for my first car. I put a centerforce dual friction stage two clutch in that baby. She shifted a lot better and harder. Im thinking everyone is talking about putting a stage 3 or something with too much hp for the tranny. Has anyone installed any stage one kits on their tegs? how good is gripforce "f1"? not the 6puck shattering bullshit I mean the stage one sport clutch kit. Or the xtd/xtr again only a stage one. Feed back would be appreciated thanx guys!!!

i bought a 92 gs with a stage 1 zoom 4 puck clutch. i dont really like the way it grabs when driving regular, but once your pushing on the car it grabs good when you quick shift.

if you have big plans for it in the near future i would upgrade now that way you do not have to tear into it again later...ACT, EXEDY, are good clutches depending on your plans this would be a good time for a flywheel upgrade as well

What you mean city driving sucks? Does it grab too hard? I think someone was saying its got a small "sweet spot". I had a centerforce dual friction stage two clutch in my 89 Celica GT-S, it shifted real hard if you wanted it too. But in lower rpm's it wasn't too bad. I'm getting ready for the install. Anything i should know about installed the new flywheel!?

the flywheel is what makes it harder to drive in the city, you have to rev the engine up higher before you engauge the clutch. i mean once you get used to it its not that bad i guess.
what i meant to say is it really only suck during rush hour when you bumper to bumper light to light

is that for a higher stage clutch only? cause i have a exedy stage1 and 7.5 fidanza flywheel and i dont have to rev up. i like everything about it, clutch grabs hard and revs move quick. goodluck w/ your install, hopefully you're not like me and bought the wrong sized clutch lol. 90-91 is different from 92+

I was about to say, why would you have to rev it up higher. The flywheel is lighter it should take less engine power. Anyway, cant wait to get it

yeah man you'll love it and you'll definently feel a huge difference. i was gonna say, if you're gonna shoot for big power in the future, go with a higher stage
