Default passenger floor water leak????????

hey just wondering if anyone has seen this. I just got rid of my old hatch which had this mysterious leak only on the passenger floor and it was NOT from the sunroof. I ended up laying down duck tape under the carpet of course. and it blocked it. Now I'm looking at buying a crx which has the same problem. has this happened to anyone???

The only water that gets into my car comes through the empty speaker holes in the doors. have you looked over the bottom of the car for a missing plug?

ya it just didn't make any sense. its not a huge deal just yet. but it looked like it was definitely like it was coming from a seam around the edge or from underneath a seat bracket point.

The underside of cars are littered with little rubber plugs, one is likely missing off yor car, thats all.

Does it happen to leak only after the a/c has been on? If so the drain tube is either clogged or damaged

no a/c (b16) checked if it was coming from heater core just in case but nada.. it must have been a plug. i just sold the ef9 that did it and tomorrow I'm gonna buy my 6th ef and it's the second one with the problem. I'll update tomorrow.

I think its the windshield on mine as well because after it rains I always get to little puddles on each side of the floor.

the water comes in thru the fresh air vent! to fix this you have to remove the wipers and the wiper cowl. you have to replace the snaps clips and boots to solve this problem. go to the honda dealership to get the parts. they cost roughly $60.

May not be your sunroof, but if it is a quality, factory sunroof, it may have drain holes in the front right and left corners with tubes that run down the windshield pillars. These tubes are meant to drain outside but if someone (ahem) has had an install done at a "big box" store (where you get the Best Buy, if you know what I mean) sometimes the technicians may accidentally pull the tubes out of their exit points leaving them to drain into the car. My friends CRV suffered this problem and it isn't cool to cruise in a moldy ride.

Mine ended up being a leaky windshield seal (look at the top of the windshield on the corner). It would leak in and go into the back floorboard from the front. A little silicone took care of the problem.

I am just finishing a repair on a similar problem in my 1989 CRX SI. Water was bypassing the outside window seal and seeping into the door. It then exited out the speaker cup and flowed against the inside of the door panel and dripped onto the passenger carpet. When I exposed some of the passenger carpet the underlay had mould spores on it (hence the smell that alerted me that there was a leak somewhere). So I removed all the carpet by removing both seats , and then washed the carpet in my bathtub with a mild bleach solution, then once again with some detergent. I replaced the stinky stock underlay with household carpet underlay. The leak I fixed by repairing the ripped vapour barrier and sealing the speaker cup with polyethylene sheetin and silicone. Now water should drain out the door drains as designed. It seems to have worked well. But now I have a leak in my trunk somewhere. Possibly due to taillight gaskets.

It happened on my CRX, I had to seal that part right underneath the windshield and it stopped.
