Default car shakes like a ****!

So i just bought this 90 hatch (THIS THING IS A PIECE!) and when i went to get the title transferred the DMV told me that i had to go to get a brake and light inspection cuz the car had a salvaged title...anyways i've noticed that when i go about 50+mph and accelerate the car feels like a damn shopping cart, the wheels are all bouncing around and shaking all crazy...it also happens when i apply the brakes (and i also hear a scraping sound from the passenger side), i took the wheel off and checked it but everything looks fine...I just changed the tie rods today as well cuz i noticed that they had a lot of play.

The passenger side wheel is also very close to the fender, i'm guessing that the passenger side was hit because the damn bumper is bent (not the bumper cover, the actual metal bumper) and the signal light won't even fit the fender cuz it ain't aligning right.

I know the car needs an alignment, i'll do that soon, do you guys think that they'll be able to tell me what's wrong with it?

Anybody have this happen to their car?

holy fawk. Yeah, you deff have some work to do. Aint gonna quit shaking as long as your wheel is in that position. Head to the junkyard, and pickup some parts.

hmm not trying to jack your thread.

but would a bad alignment cause something similar to this? [steering wheel is turned to the right almost a quarter turn]
when i turn left it sounds like my tires have a flat spot.
when on the highway its the same after a couple of miles.

checked everything, but didnt find any problem.

Sounds sketchy, I had a EG coupe that kinda had a similar problem. It turned out the steering rack was busted and bent up. Not sure what happened to the car but it was dumped on cut springs and man that thing was a POS, it got rear ended before I got the front end fixed thankfully.

That wheel / fender

tell you the truth i dont see a point in workin on this car your wheels are prolly off balance too which is what will make it shake, your brakes are prolly shot making it rumble when you press the pedal and your alignment is most likely gone your going to have to replace just about everyting under the fender and trust me its not cheap or easy

^^ I agree, unless you really want to get into it I would just get another base to start with, maybe use with car as a parts car?

check your radius bar from the LCA to the crossmember. i remember when mine was riding normal and when i brake it would shake hard. the driver side radius bar wasnt even bolted down to the LCA causing negative caster. try that out. if its fine, maybe a bent LCA. take a pix of your suspension components and we will go from there. dont part a car out.

I GUARANTEE that you will need the following.

- Rear crossmember
- Passenger side LCA
- Passenger side tension rod

You might also need

- Passenger side inner/outer tie rods
- Front crossmember
- Passenger side axle

That car is quite [freak]ed, It's not worth it to take it to a shop. You can save it if you're willing to do the work yourself but I would probably put aside AT LEAST two weekends to get the parts you need and to swap them out. Then again, I've done this repair once before and I know what I'm doing since I'm a mechanic by profession.

Well having a car like this you could pick up a perfectly running si hatch for like $800 on craigs (seattle area there runnin like $600) and then swap any performance parts over you wana keep but if the car is stock use a donor or i'll pick it up for my 2 door swap

Thanks guys for the input...I've decided that until i actually find out exactly how much it might cost me to fix this problem i'm goin to keep the car (sorry, here in SoCal we don't have cheap Civic/ CRX Si's, at least ones that either haven't been a victim of theft or are just "shells", must be nice to have it like that in Seattle though). I want this car to just be a daily driver...

I just bought myself a CRX Si yesterday, the temp sensor isn't working and so it overheats also i think i hear what sounds like valve tap or something cuz the engine runs like **** (sounds like a lawn mower), what do you expect for $650?

So, i'm goin to (in the near future) swap out that 'ol tired D15 and put the "Rex's" D16A6 in it...I've got a D16Z6 in the garage that i've got and i'm gonna start building that sometime or another (waiting for girlfriend to come back from deployment, she wants to learn how to rebuild a motor).

Anyways, i took some more pics today...here they are...

Thanks again guys

Looks like the upper arm is bent. I would look into the frame work around where the upper arm is bolted. This is controlling the position of your knuckle and tie-rod assy.
