Default Torqued down caps. motor won't turn

Just rebuilt a motor, didn't torque down the rod connector caps.. before i realized that, the motor was turning, cranking, and running. I just pulled off the oil pan and torqued everything down. Put everything back on and now the motor won't turn over. WTF?

Can you spin the engine by hand ?

Is the battery fully charged?

You may have spun a rod bearing and then tighten the spun bearing into the crank.

good luck

Can't turn it by hand, the crank bolt actually just comes loose now.

It's being jumped off.

Possible that i just torqued it too much and the rods can't spin around the crank?

I'm guessing the oil pan is back on?

What did you torque them to?

x2

My guess is you slammed a rod bearing into the crank and mashed it all up.

no...your not fallowing.the bearing could be all fugged up.then you tightened it to the crank.its scared and now wone move.its like chewing up a bolt, then treading into a nut and trying to take it out.its gunna be jammed up.your bottom end is most likely ruined, and will need to be machined all over again

no you my friend are not following...

you guess on tightening down an engine rebuild. they are saying you "slammed" (as in tightened to much) a brearing into the crank making it impossible to move.

OP, next time, make a mental note to self, rotate the crank after you tighten each cap.

Oh I'm sorry, make that after you torque each cap. You may want to tighten everything evenly in steps, making sure the crank rotates.

x2.... never should you torque down main or rod caps and not test to see if the crank moves. Test it every time you torque something.
