Default Ls Swap. Need Your Input!

So I've been penny pinching for the last couple months trying to save up enough money for a swap. I got a 96ex w/ a d16y8(POS) and just arent happy with it. So at the moment I've got around 2k to spend. I was checking my local craigslist and there was a complete LS swap for 650 and it had 128k on the engine or 500 with just the head and block. Now my question for you people was should I just get the whole swap w/ the tranny or just get the block/head an buy a b16/ITR/GSR tranny for it? My plans for the car are DD but with the ability to have some fun in it. IE track, drag, whatever I feel like doing. Any input will be highly apprechiated. Thanks!

buy the full swap...its much cheaper that way....a good tranny is like 300 minumum for anything other than ls...you will need alot of money in swap parts anyways so save what u have left for that stuff and aftermarket performance parts...LS trannies are fine for what u want.

Thats what I figured just wanted some other peoples opinions. I want to keep it all motor considering I'm still in school and dont really have the option of getting another car is I turbo'd the b18a/b and it went down. Thinking about putting in some b16 pistons w/ ARP rod bolts and some crower 403's or 404's. Any other opinions are highly welcomed!
