Back up camera replacement. Where to find one?
My back up camera went out in my 05 MDX. All it shows is a white screen. Where can I find a replacement? The Acura dealership wants $800.
Thanks for the reply. Do you know if they're compatible with the OEM system? Circuit City even has back up cameras made by Audiovox, but they don't think it will work with the OEM Nav unit.
Actually, I am not sure. But I am not sure what else it could be. The Nav system works fine. I will tear out the back and see if all of the wiring is in tact. What are you thinking it is?
Probably the wiring harness, or the navigation unit.
This is for a pilot but I hope it carries over.
Try this
Start-up procedure and Diagnosis Menu
Turn the ignition switch ON (II), select ''OK'' on the disclaimer screen, then press and hold the buttons in this order: (1) MENU button, (2) MAP/GUIDE button, (3) CANCEL button, and keep them pressed simultaneously for 5 seconds.
After the display changes to the diagnosis menu screen, select the item you want to check, and the check will start. To return to the previous screen, select ''RETURN'' on the screen.
System Links
During diagnosis, all of the communication lines connecting the components are shown in yellow.
If the system is OK, all of the communication lines connecting the components will change to green, the screen will indicate ''OK'', and a tone will sound.
If there is a problem in the system, the faulty communication line will change to red, the screen will indicate ''NG'', and a tone will sound.
The indication on the screen will not change until the ignition switch is cycled. After repairing the system, turn the ignition switch OFF to reset the system, then return to the Diagnosis Menu screen, and run System Links again
Rear Camera (Accessory)
This screen is used to turn on or off the rear camera setting. When the setting is turned on, the navigation system will know that the rear camera accessory is installed, and the following changes occur within the navigation system:
Normally, if you do not touch ''OK'' on the Disclaimer screen, the navigation display screen turns off after 30 seconds. If you select Rear-Camer switch ''On'', the rear camera to operates even if the navigation screen is deliberately turned off, or goes off automatically if the disclaimer screen is ignored.
The navigation touch screen and hard buttons are ignored when the transmission is in reverse. This prevents accidental touch screen/hard button commands that can cancel your route, or disturb the screen you are viewing.
