Default door hinge noise?

So lately when I open (only open, not close) the driver's side door, it makes this loud squeaking sound, sounds like I'm bending metal with a compactor lol... Only seems to happen in really cold weather.

Any ideas to why this is happening and what I can do about it? I'm going to try and WD40 the hinges but I'm not sure if that'll do much.

Seriously just use some grease or wd-40. This isn't the most complicated fix in the world.

it sounds like there's metal on metal contact when it hinges, no need to be a dick.

If your guard liner has been removed then dirt gets into it, Just a matter of cleaning it then re greasing it or using spray on chain oil.

that actually might be the case. I bought the car without a liner on that side. I'm taking a look at it tomorrow morning i'll let you guys know if it's not an issue of being cleaned/greased up.

If the liner has been off for awhile I suggest taking the guard right off and cleaning all the dirt out, Then put it back on and use some sealant in the gap by the hinge under the guard. Should stop the problem coming back.

If you know the answer already then why ask? Like I said before, it isn't the hardest of fixes.

K turns out part of the hinge was broken, making the door hang a little bit lower, scraping against the other part of the hinge/doorjam.

I went to a junkyard today and found another hinge, put it on and everythings fine now.

Thanks everyone who offered suggestions
