Fitv Question!
i have an obd2 ls throttle body and ive noticed it does not have a fitv...my motors obd1...is this going to make a diffrence if i dont run the fitv? i also noticed it has no vacuum itting on the top of the throttle body for the charcoal canister hose.
The FITV came on 92-95 obd1 cars. any 96+ does not have the FITV. It shouldnt make a difference running the fitv or not. I know people that bypass the collant lines going to it to keep intake temps down. If you dont want one at all, get a throttle body off a 96+ and it shouldnt have one. It will run fine.
i too have a similar situation my car was converted to odb1 but i am using an obd2 throttle body that has no fitv.. my understanding is that the fitv is supposed to increase idle when its cold out. obd2 uses the iacv to do this but obd1 does not have this capability.. my situation is that in very cold weather (winter, sub-freezing) my car will die if i do not give it a little bit of throttle for about 30 seconds or so after that its fine. in the warmer seasons i did not have this issue..
my questions is will getting an obd1 throttle body with the fitv be the solution to my cold start problem? also i too do not have the nipple to connect my charcoal canister to will this result in bad fuel economy? what is the outcome of not having it connected?
thanks
