Default timing belt - waterpump changing.

should i bring this to a honda dealer
or just an ASE certified shop would do?

anyone know the price range ? I heard somewhere around $300-500

do they have to take off the front bumper to do it? cause that would suck, mess up my lip

heres what i did, I took mine to the dealer, i just had my timing belt and waterpump changed out not 2 weeks ago. I was going to be charged 312 for just the timing belt, but then i just had them do the waterpump, and thatsl ike 75 bucks, so it would have been around 380 no more than 400... but i had alot of other stuff that had to be changed out, valve seals, bunch of covers and i had all all the front belts changed. Also, at my honda dealer, for an extra 11 bucks they will adjust your valves. So in my opinion at my dealer without all the major oil leaks and stuff i had, it wouluve cost me 385 for the timing belt, waterpump, and the valves adjusted, im not sure about your dealer, but in my opinion, you always get good service at your honda dealer, just ask brian

how long did it take you? I hear you have to leave your car there for a day.

Did you had any modifications to your car?

OH MY JESUS. What caliber weapon did you need to hold to your service advisors face in order to get it at that price?!?!?? Heh....

Despite what these guys say, Honda Dealers are not the 7th layer of hell. Bring it to honda and have them change out the timing belt and water pump. If you are mechanically inclined you can do this at home, just be patient and take your time.

I recommend honda. You pay more because there is a difference.

Around here I have three shops that cater specifically to Honda & Acura parts and service, and they're all cheaper than a dealer. Even the dealership ain't bad. $380 for the 105,000 mile service (t-belt/pump/etc) ain't bad. I would have bleed out at least that much in blood doing the service myself.

Lets see, I left it at the dealer, around 5pm maybe a little later, and then i picked it up the next day at around 12:30, They also gave me a free rental car, im not sure if your dealer does the same

it cost me $638.87 to get the 90K service done that is a timing belt water pump, balancing belt, drive belts, and any other miscellanious peices. it took the guy about 90 mins to do it from the time he started to the time he finished yet they charged me $330 in labor (4 hours)

thats bullshit - if it was 90 minutes then the bill should be for 90 minutes. Call them out on that kind of stuff.

the usually state somewhere that their rates are not actual labor times, but a set # of hours for each job based on like industry standards or something, regardless of how many actual hours it took them to do it.

Yeah. We do state that. Right above your signature on the repair order.
