Falken Azenis 205-50-15 pressures??
Hey, i have a 1997 GSR that i auto-x alot. I just switched from 205-40-17 w/ paradas to 205-50-15 w/ azenis on rota slipstreams. Boy to they grip a He|| of alot more.
I am running:
GC coilovers with 400front, and 300rear springs
tokico Illumina adj's set to 3 in the front and 5 in the rear
22mm type r rear sway bar
Full polyurethane bushings (almost) everywhere
Since i have switched tires, i do not know what pressures to run. I havent gotten any camber adjusters to add camber but i sort of set it with the ride height. approx 1.7 in the front and 1 in the rear. I want to add front camber and get the right pressures to run better times. The first time i ran with the new tires it elt like pressures near 40psi were good. I really didnt get enough time (3 runs
) to fully feel out the tires and i want to start out at a better point for my next event. Any advice from anyone that is running THIS tire and a similar setup will help alot!! The car felt less responsivewith lower pressures but the tires are fairley new so maybe they need to get some more miles on them first? I want the car to be a little more on the oversteer side then the neuteral side

Well, for what it's worth, most of the guys that run them on the track, with primarily stock suspensions, run them in the low 30s. The stiff sidewall will keep them from rolling over, and the lower the pressure the more contact area under the tire you get.
Not sure how that translates to Auto-X'ing with a setup like yours.
What is the width of the Rotas?

I've been running mine at 42F/44-46R on my stock Type R for the last 3-4 autocrosses and seem to be working pretty well. Be sure to bleed them down between runs though, my fronts usually shoot up 2-3psi after a run.
since this varies from car to car.....from all the National STS guys ive talked to...
Front 36-41
Rear 31-36
This is basically a general FWD Azenis setup. Basically, set your fronts so you dont get a whole lot of roll-over (dont think that because you dont get any rollover at 40 means you will at 38...go as low as possible without them rolling) and then adjust the rear pressure to play with the car's dynamics (oversteer, understeer).

Do some of you guys use pyrometers or are you pulling these numbers out from nowhere?
I'm using 37/38f and 31-33r with just an ounce of rotation on a 2000 Honda Civic Si that weighs 2700lbs.

For my STS-prepped GS-R sedan, on 15x7 wheels, the settings I like best so far (still playing around w/ pressures since I've only got 4 events on my Azenis thus far) are 40F and 36R. These pressures produced the most consistent and predictable rotation for my car. Your results may vary...

i'm running 36f, 32r (15x6.5" wheels, 205/55/15) on my 90 CRX in CSP. front is perfect, but i'm still working out the rear to dial out a little bit of the oversteer. i'm going to a test&tune held by the PCA in a couple weeks, so i'll be able to finally figure out the pressures and sway bar settings (ST 22mm in rear, no front).
I started at 38/32 to start and the pressure was to high. So I dumped down to 37/31 and it helped a ton got rid of some of the push in the higher speed corners. Next Time, I might try 36 front and stay 31 Rear. I was having enough trouble staying in the seat.
So I think that affected my cornering some as well. These things grip great!!

YES it does, especially on a higher HP car (EX and anything over 100 or so at the wheels)..
Helps the outside front stay planted and will actually prevent inside wheel spin..
Test and tune confirmed, about 3tenths faster on a 45 sec course... And the ST bar adjusted to your liking for lift oversteer rotation. I have mine set on 19mm and rear tire pressure on 34...Fronts around 38..

I started out at 37.5/37, and I didn't really liek the feel. I think that I'll try something like 39/36 to start out next time around and see how it goes from there.

I'm surprised with a bar that big up front you can get the car to turn on tighter courses. With the front that stiff, almost seems it would bind up the steering and almost force the car to push especially on late apexes.
I've just started autocrossing on Azenis (toasted one of the Kumhos a couple events ago). First time we (car was co-driven by the tires' owner) and we had the fronts at 38-39psi and rears at about 36-37psi. Car had definate understeer.
At the last event, I had the fronts at 33psi and rears at 32psi and this seemed to work out well. The car felt like it wanted to push, but only lost traction when I was driving like a moron (turning and hard braking at the same times doesn't work too well). I checked the tire wear and it was right on for the entire event, except for the one time when I was driving like a moron and a little more sidewall hit the pavement.

wow that seems really high in terms of pressure because i think that the max psi load is like 51psi??
really, 55 psi on Azenis is where my EG handles best and is fastest.
that has been proven over and over.

Well here is my thinking. I had Kumho 712s last year and at 42psi (front) the pyrometer measured even temps. The Kumhos definitely had a softer sidewall. So you needed more air to keep them from rolling over.
My Azenis have stiffer sidewalls and require less air so that's my thinking

37.5 front and about 33 in the rear with 205/50-15s on my DX w/o a front swaybar and w/a rear 19mm swaybar and both adjustable shocks and lowering springs 15% stiffer then stock. This works just fine for me down hear in Florida with road temps into the low to mid tripple digits on the Auto-X skid pad.
