Default Shortblock Rebuild Questions

My motor is burning oil and I'm thinking about tearing it down, boring it a size over, and throwing in new rings.

If I measure the bearings with plastigage and they are all still within spec does that mean I can just leave the bearings as is? Or should I just go ahead and throw new bearings in?

This is a d16y8, and it's my DD. I just want it to be as budget friendly as possible. Thanks

dont half *** a motor build bearings are 30$ on ebay if u are cheap. u need to replace bearings ,piston rings, and all seals as well as oil and water pump if u dont want to be stranded

if u are gonna do it do it once and do it right other wise u will get some more miles out of it and be doing it all over agian

cant be that budget if you are boring it out, that means you are already in it for some new pistons so you maybe want to sit down and price everything out so you know about how much you are looking at. there is no such thing as a budget rebuild that is done right but in comparision to getting another motor it is alot better.
