Default tierod balljoint boot

So I destroyed the boot of my tierod balljoint boot..
Couple questions*
1. When do you have to replace the whole balljoint or when can you get by with just a boot and clip
2. If I do have the get a new tierod end with balljoint, from honda, do i have to buy a boot too, or do they come all assembled?
Thanks h-t

if i damaged the boot myself, and i knew it was good before, then i put on a new boot. if i just noticed it damaged and theres pebbles and crap in there, then the tie rod end needs replacing. i keep new boots around just for this reason. cheap enough.

you just need to buy the whole end, it comes preassembled wit ha new boot.

I picked up a set of outer tie rod ends from rockauto a few weeks ago. Got the Moog brand ones and they are way better quality than OEM. Just a heads up if you want to check them out.

They aren't, actually, but they're not bad. I personally find that Moog is often overpriced by many distributors. I've had good luck with 555/Sankei ball joints if you want to save a few bucks by going aftermarket.
