spark plugs and bad gas mileage in my swap, related?
i have a gutted 92 eg hatch with a b18b1 swap with the ls trans.
and im only getting 17mpg,wtf? i do drive it hard but still that seems outrageous.and other people are telling me their getting 30+mpg with similiar swaps. i noticed when i pulled the plugs out to do a compression check, the plugs had no part #,just said NGK#7...are these colder plugs>????,cause none of the parts stores list these plugs? i know the old owner was going to spray or boost the car he told me,so im wondering if this is the reason for my poor mpg?
please help!!!!!!suggestions on plugs, motor just has bolt on's.?
i can smell the car is running to rich.

You smell it running rich, i doubt the plugs would cause this, but new plugs are what $10 for a set?
I would take a stab in the dark and say bad o2 or more likely in a combination of a bad tune/chip on the ecu.
If your trying to check for gas mileage drive normal for a tank, running it hard can really destroy gas mileage (although I doubt down to 17mpg).

Thats a .032 gap race plug, they recommend a .044 on NGK.com
Shouldn't cause a rich situation though.

Well yes recommended .044 gap plug has the part number: ZFR5F-11 which is a -11 as you said.
For the price I'd throw the correct plugs in, but I doubt that's your problem, I'll step out, let one of the more experienced HTers give you more of a diagnosis on how to correct a rich situation (which is more likely the problem of bad gas mileage, dumping too much gas in is obviously wasteful).

Probably for the teg, but I think they are the same... I say teg because its a teg header which the o2 would screw in to. Before you go buying stuff though, is the ECU stock (teg B18B1 ECU I hope) or chipped?
