Default I'm about to buy a '93 Del Sol Si.. good idea?

Yes I know I made this same thread on a DX.. but that doooosh dropped contact and must have sold it. So I think, no.. i'm pretty sure this friday she's gonna be mine.

It's a '93.. has a d16zc jap motor, 5spd, and a few other goodies. I reallllly like del sol's.. I'm just curious as to how these motors perform in these cars? Gas mileage pretty good or what?

Thanks all

Matt

how much does he want for it?...well that doesnt matter, if you want a del sol than buy it...just make sure theres no cancer on the quarters and the motor doesnt smoke...and make sure when you get there the car wasnt warmed up before you arrived because a car can act very different on cold starts

excellent tip on cold starts! im not the only one who says this when people say they are going to look for a car.

performance is nothing to get excited about. but gas mileage is real good. whats the mileage and how much does he want?

probably high 20s.....your not buying the car from the city right? i see your from buffalo so your a long way from home in the city but ia few of the people i know that have boughten cars from the city usually wind up with a blown motors fron dented oil pans, or when they get it home they relize that some of the fenders were held on by color matching zip ties...just watch what you buy....Redline i always tell people about cold starts...thats usually when you head slight valve taps and such....just lookin out for him

if it's a good asking price and you like del sol's i would go for it. also make sure to check out the condition of the roof seals since they're damn expensive to replace.

i got about 28-30 city and 30-35 highway in my sol with a D motor depending on how i drove it.

yes I think 400 is feasible. like dtarvin, i had a D in my sol and highway was close to 40. switched in an h22 and get low 20's city, close to 30 highway. not to jack your thead at all, but it is for sale, and I'm close to you if you're at bragg..im in myrtle beach.

Del Sols can look sooooooooooooo nice if they're done right.

For example one painted Heather Mist Metallic with Mugen MF10Ls and OEM goodies. It was just gorgeous. IT looked more desirable than the hatches around it.

well, i got it!! i [freak]ing love this thing!! even more than my '95 si!! i got 370miles, and still had 2.5 gallons left, travelling 80[freak]ing mph for nearly 7hours!! And this motor is SO crisp! It revs awesome, has great response, and I'll be damned.. it's quick!! I'll post pics as soon as I get them hosted!

I do actually have a few questions on it though, and will be posting them in the Del Sol section thru out the course of today :D

I'm 5' 11" and 210lbs and I fit wonderful. I love how the car seems to hug you and how small and nimble it is.

Take a water hose and nozzle and spray hard around the roof to see if it leaks.

ah yes.. i meant to say that actually. This roof leaks like a dicksucker w/ std's man.. I'm pretty pissed. It leaks all over me, and one morning I went to go to PT at 530am, and my drivers seat was SOAKED in water.

Wtf can I do about this? I've read about some silicone?

go the the honda dealer and pick up some shinetsu (spl) grease, it works great. My roof used to leak real bad, but after a couple applications of this stuff, my leaking has pretty much went away.

Make sure you wipe the seals clean before applying. then apply the grease, and dont be stingy with it, and massage it in to the seal. wipe any excess off.

yeah it will work, give it a couple applications though, it reconditions the seals. Apply once, wait like 2-3 weeks, then apply again, wait 2-3 weeks, then apply. Reapply when it looks like the seals need it again.

Mine leaked really bad, i used this stuff, it still leaks but very very little, maybe a drip here and a drop there.
